Matt Curney

About the artist

Groove and Heart define the sound of Matt Curney's 2008 EP, Strange Education. His confessional lyrics sit side-by-side with energetic, feverish drum beats, and rich, rolling harmonies. It's a combination that captivates the ear instantly. Growing up as a pianist in St. Paul MN, Matt Curney honed a virtuosic technique in classical music before changing paths to pursue jazz piano at McNally Smith College of Music. He was recruited by a leading Cruise line to perform on board a ship in the heart the Caribbean.
