Amparanoia

About the artist

Amparanoia is the musical project of the Spaniard Amparo Sanchez. Her major early inspiration was Billie Holiday; Manu Chao, her friend and driving force, said upon hearing her: ‘As a child you swallowed a microphone, and because of this you have that voice streaming out!’. She was born in Granada in 1970. At 16 years of age Amparo had her first band, Correcaminos. From then, she had been occasionally involved with other Blues, Jazz, Rock'n'roll and Soul music groups as a singer.
